Category A2 Licence - up to 35kw (46.6bhp)

If taking the progressive access route, i.e. held an A1 licence for at least 2 years, CBT certificate and theory certificate are not required.
When you’ve satisfactorily completed your standard test you will be restricted to riding a bike of up 35kW (46.6bhp). After 2 years or at 24 years old (whichever come first), you can take the Full Category A Motorcycle Test and ride anything you like.
Example of an A2 Course (1 to 1 Training):
Saturday = 4 Hours Training
Sunday = 4 Hours Training
Monday = Mod 1 Test
Tuesday = 2 Hours Training
Wednesday = 2 Hours Training
Friday = Mod 2 Test

- Ride any machine up to 125cc
- L plates must be displayed
- No passengers
- Not allowed on motorways
After Full A2 Test Completion
- Ride any machine up to 35kW (46.6bhp) E.g. Yamaha XT660
- No L plates
- Passengers allowed
- Allowed on motorways
- After 2 years or at 24 years old, you can take Full Category A Motorcycle Mod 1 & Mod 2 Tests to ride a bike of any power. You do not need to re-sit the Theory Test.
